Snipers can stay perfectly still for days just waiting on
the perfect shot, a lion will wait for the perfect timing to pounce on its next
meal; however, for the most part, we, the typical every day walking upright
human being, are an impatient lot. We want that instant gratification. Whether it is the latest techno-gizmo, newest
car, or newest designer whatever, we want it and want it now.
Heck, I even see I want it now attitude when it comes to
relationships especially, in the 20-something girls that are gonna be married
in the next year, get the fancy house with the daisy dog with the picket fence,
have a kid the year after, and join some snob-a-torium country club. I know girls.
Guys are just as bad.
There is another common area where we want it all and want
it now. That’s when it comes to change
and growth in life. Some significant
event happens and rather than sort it out and develop a plan to work through it
in parts and pieces, we attempt to solve it all at once then get all sorts of
wiggy when it doesn’t happen at the speed of light. I know.
I’ve done it and know I will do it again, as impatience does bounce
around in my head on occasion.
When the dung heap hits the rotary oscillator, take a little
time to pause, allow yourself to feel the emotions, do some analysis, and
develop a plan for resolution. Exercising
a little patience on the front side will save you a ton of grief on the
backside.
