Thought of the Day 9/9/09

Where Do I Go Now?

“To decide, to be at the level of choice, is to take responsibility for your life and to be in control of your life.” - Abbie M. Dale

Events happen in life that make us ask the question: where do I go now? Things as you know it get flipped completely over, and you are just at a loss as to which direction to take. Times like these are extremely stressful. Your ego tends to kick in high gear and you begin thinking things like I’m a failure, how did I let this happen, no one will want me, etc. Continuing to question yourself keeps you in a negative place. Things just happen. It is called life. Sure we are active participants in our life, but things just happen. It’s just sometimes tough to see when you are living through some bumps in the road.

I like the way it is described in A Course of Miracles: “complexity is of the ego, and is the ego’s attempt to obscure the obvious.” How profound but simple that statement really is when you read it aloud. Complexity in our lives is internally generated by our reaction to life. I find it ironic the Good Lord gives us free will, and we allow things like our ego to take advantage of the gift. Free will is the one area of your life where God and your Angels will not take direct action unless it is life threatening and just not your time. They will however make suggestions. You can call it intuition, premonitions, or whatever. It’s sometimes tough to hear with all the other chatter in your head. Just learn to listen to them.

If you feel lost, that’s your ego. If you feel emotional pain, that’s your ego. If you feel you failed, that’s your ego. If you are asking the question, where do I go now, I bet one path feels good to you and the other does not. The feelings of goodness come from those looking out for you and offering suggestions. The other path is your ego trying to keep you on the direction of negativity. The decision is ultimately yours to make: stay the course or change direction.

Action Item – Just listen. Goodness is being presented to you all the time. Where Do You Go Now? You get to decide.
