When It All Comes Together
“Love the moment, and the energy of that moment will spread beyond all boundaries.” - Sister Corita Kent
Flour, butter, eggs, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, cream cheese, red dye, butter milk, baking soda, cream cheese, flour, white vinegar, white chocolate, and vanilla extract. Short of the eggs and maybe the white chocolate, I doubt you would find anyone that would eat the items above individually; however, when they are combined, they come together to make a very tasty treat called a Red Velvet Cake.
Have you ever thought about all of the ingredients that go into making YOU each day? The reason I mention each day specifically is that we can’t change the recipe from yesterday and we do not know the recipe for tomorrow. All we can do is work with the ingredients of the day as every day has its own unique set of experiences. Sure things from the past can impact today, but the impact will not be identical to the previous day. Luckily, our lives are not like the movie Groundhog Day. In reality, something different happens to us every single day. You know it as living in the moment.
I think of my life like a surprise recipe every day. The ingredients for my day start coming together when I wake up and the surprise recipe is finished when I go to sleep at night. We have similar “base” ingredients each day like stretching in the morning, brushing our teeth, a cup of coffee/Coke, or even drinking a glass of water, but short of things like that, we don’t really know what is coming for the day. I have no idea what text messages, phone calls or emails I will get. I may get a different type of coffee at Starbucks (I typically do as I ask them to pick it for me sometimes). Traffic might be a little different. I may run into a long lost friend just walking through the building (actually happened two weeks ago). I just never know what exact ingredients will go in to my recipe of life for the day. I do know that I strive to be positive, smile and talk to everyone, and think positive, but there are still days it does not always happen. Something may get me down, or I may not feel good, but even those things are just part of the recipe of my life for the day. I like the way I saw it worded in a daily posting I get on Facebook called Message From God.
On this day, God wants you to know that nothing is exciting if you know what the outcome is going to be. You keep wanting to know how things will play out, keep asking to see the future. God doesn't give anyone the power to know the future, because life becomes maddeningly boring when you know everything up front. So instead of struggling, enjoy the uncertainty – to be alive means to not know.hing upfront. So, instead of struggling, enjoy the uncertainty - to be alive means to not know.
Do a quick little exercise today. Write down each little unplanned event that happens to you today. I think it you see real quick how unique each day really is in your recipe of life. Embrace it, mix it all together, and make a masterpiece of it.

This one really spoke to me! As the days draw nearer before me trip, I'm trying to control every moment to get things done and it is really stressing me out. Instead, I should just pretend I'm already on the road, knowing that it will be predictable and wonderful! The journey has, in fact, already begun!
