Future Impact

The title today comes out of a conversation I had with Patrick regarding the passing of a friend’s son. He said that after the service he was sitting at home thinking about not only the loss of the person but of the future impact the son would have had on the world. As I drove to the office, I thought more about future impact in terms of life.

For the last three + years, one of my personal daily action items has been to make a difference in someone’s life. For me, “difference” indeed means making an impact in the life of another. We are all connected in the universe. That’s the way the good Lord designed life. There is indeed a reaction for every action. We have no way of knowing the future impact for our actions today, but I am 100% certain there will be some impact. Think of today’s title alone. Patrick had no way of knowing when he was telling me his story that I would write about it. I can tell you though that as soon as I heard “future impact”, I knew that is what I would write about today.

There are so many people that I interact with through my writing that tell me something I’ve said or written impacted or changed their life. When the inspiration to write something hits me, there are times I know without a doubt that I am writing for a specific person. There are other times I know I am writing just for me, and there are those times where I have no clue what I’m writing about. One thing I do know for certain though is that the Lord puts the people, events, and thoughts in my heart to help impact others. I know without a doubt that I make a difference. That’s what keeps me going.

We possess the power of future impact. Rather than wondering IF you make a difference, KNOW you make a difference.
