I’m So Confused
There are weight lifting routines called muscle confusion workouts. The workouts are designed to work your muscles in a variety of ways for maximum results rather than doing the same routines over and over. If you do the same routines in the same order with the same amount of weight, your muscles get used to it over time. Programs like PX90 are based on muscle confusion. Varying your workouts keeps your muscles working and growing.
I believe the confusion concept should be applied to daily routines and thought processing. I’ve actually done some experimenting at home with simple things such as brushing my teeth, shaving, showering, etc. I could wrap all that up, get dressed and be downstairs then not recall doing certain things. They were such habit that I just zoned out. Safety studies have been done and found that some people could not describe their commute in as it was such routine that they zoned out. That is dang scary that we can zone out behind the wheel of 6,000 lbs of moving steel, but it happens. I do vary my routes to work a few times a week too. It is indeed each time. I noticed some street lights out this morning that were working two days ago.
Just like your muscles, your brain can indeed get used to routines and get lazy. It happens to all of us. Challenge yourself to do something different today. Confusion in the case of your brain can be a good thing sometimes. Heck I live in a state of confusion, but that’s by choice. If I stay confused, my brain stays engaged. Go out and get confused today. It’s good for your melon.
