Makin My List

Ctrl D

Today’s title is the actual key sequence for bookmarking sites I like on the internet. Ctrl D adds web site address to my Favorites so I can go back to them quickly. I have a fairly large list of Favorites. I have links to gratitude sites, links to technical specifications for floor poke devices, links for travel, links for Harley parts, links to some of my favorite Bible verses, and even a link to a recipe just called Date Night Salmon.

Being a techno-nerd just without the thick glasses and pocket protector, I kinda equate the ole brain to a big web browser with a giant list of Favorites about my life. There are certain people, places, and or events I go to immediately depending on the situation or what I need at the time. If I am down about something, I scan my Favorites to find a memory to shift me from my current state. In the book The Secret, they refer to them as Secret Shifters. They are events or memories you should keep at the top of the Favorites list for those times when you need to shift out of a “funk.” For instance, the current #1 on my Favorites is when Lauren asked me to be her baby’s God Father. If I get down or feel stressed, I recall the moment she asked me sitting in the truck in front of 59 Diner in Katy Texas a few minutes after 9am on May 1, 2010. I have many other things on the list, but that one is at the top right now. Much like my computer, I do go through my Favorites to delete certain addresses from the list. That does not mean the memories are erased. It just means they do not need to be in my list anymore.

What is at the top of your Favorites list? What do you tend to bookmark: the positive events or the less than positive events? Whatever you put at the top of your list is what you are going to be drawn to. I like the way Yvonne Oswald puts it in the following quote: “Power your thoughts to direct your destiny. Switch on your life.”
