Turn the Page
I received the proof copy of my book last night called The View From A Different Angle. The package showed up right as I was heading out the door for a meeting. I did take the time to open it and put a copy in the truck. I picked it up at each stop light, grinned a little, thumbed some pages, and then put it down. It’s like I really did not know what to do with it. Honestly, I’m still trying to process and interpret the emotions of now being able to touch, literally, the words and feelings that lived in my heart and head for a long time. Sure I would see them when I wrote a thought of the day, saw the pictures when Sally and I were doing the cover design, and saw them when I read the draft prior to uploading for review, but for some reason, it is different when you have it all in your hands.
I feel a sense of accomplishment even though I never really planned on writing a book when I started this journey. I am also having flashbacks of the people, events and times in my life contained in the book. Some memories bring smiles and some bring tears, and I am ok with both as I am allowing them to be. For the new people to the group, this shift in my life started in August of 2006. The foundation of the Thought of the Day started in October of 2008, and the proof of the book arrived on September 8, 2010.
As I turn the page on the next chapter of my life, I think about something Jamie would say when I used to walk in her office: “whatcha got for me today, Rod.” I don’t know what the world has for me but I’m ready so Bring It!
