Never Is A Long Time
When I left Chevron Friday, I did not say goodbye. No, I was not being rude, but I’ve learned in my business and life in general that very seldom does goodbye actually mean goodbye. Instead of saying goodbye, I say, “I will see you later.” Please note I am not talking about the people in our lives that we need to say goodbye to, as they are not healthy for us. I am speaking about all the others.
Short of someone passing away, do you really know goodbye is goodbye? I think not. There are way too many people I said goodbye to at one time thinking I would never see them or cross their path again only to run across them later. Do you care to test my thinking? How many people have you reconnected with on Facebook that you were certain you would never see again? I have reconnected with people I lost contact with over 30 years ago and now am communicating with them again.
So does goodbye really mean goodbye? Remember never is a long time. See ya later!
