This Way or That Way
Wednesday was Pay it Forward day on Facebook. For those that may not know the concept, to pay it forward is to give kindness or blessings to someone as someone has been kind and or blessed you. I like to think of it as keeping the goodness going. Kindness and blessings are not one-time events or reserved for holidays and special occasions in my opinion. In fact, kindness and blessings are not always something tangible, or something you do or say, but they are a lifestyle choice. It’s that choice to say kind things to someone, flash a smile, open a door, or anonymously pay a bill for someone. It is that simple concept of just the right thing to do.
In my opinion, there is no difference in being an arrogant rude prick or being a kind and gentle person trying to make the world a better place by paying it forward. So, how I can I say there is no difference? Both are choices on how to live. Guys are not born dicks, and women are not born being bitches. Yes, we are products of our environment, but we have a choice to change the product, us being the product, if we do not like the current state. Think about it. No one in jail was born knowing they would be a criminal just as no one was born knowing they would be the CEO of a worldwide organization. This thing called life happened that yielded the respective outcome. Even when we are at our lowest and think there is no way out, there is one. Change is scary and sometimes painful as it is a leap into the unknown, but if the known world you are living in now stinks on ice, you can choose to take the leap. You, me, everyone has the power of choice. We can choose this way or that way. So, what’s your choice?
