Little Here & There
I am so far from cheap, tight, or frugal, but I do not like leaving money on the table as it were. There are so many ways to save or cost avoid out there, and technology just makes it easier by the day. Here are a few things I do to save a little here and there.
· A few weeks ago, Kroger launched an application for smart phones where you can load coupons on the fly. You get a current listing on your phone then you can select load, and the coupons are loaded to your frequent shopper account. The coupons are automatically deducted at checkout. You can also save 10 cents a gallon at Kroger gas stations for every $100 you spend when you are a member of their frequent shopper club. Additionally, Kroger gives a 10% discount on Kroger brand items for anyone 50 and over.
· Starbucks has a gold card program where you get every 15th drink free. You can also save 10 cents on your purchase when you bring in your own reusable cup.
· Groupon, www.groupon.com, emails daily coupons with heavily discounted offerings for goods and services in your respective area. I use Groupon quite a bit. Please note Groupon is nationwide and will deliver the deals in your area based on zip code.
· The Houston Press has a program similar to Groupon called Voice Deal of the Day. You can sign up at http://deals.voiceplaces.com/houston/intro.
· The Houston Chronicle also has a program like Groupon called the Daily Deal. You can sign up at http://dailydeal.chron.com/.
· My Fit Foods sends out weekly emails with a healthy choice article and coupon at the bottom of the email. They are usually 10 – 15% off your purchase. You can sign up at www.myfitfoods.com.
We, the consumer, have the power. We get to chose where and how we spend our money. Technology has made it so much easier these days to save a little here and there. If you have some money, savings ideas you would like to pass out to our group, shoot um my way.
