Humor Me
So I’ve actively started looking for a new gig as rodeo is winding down. I’m finding the job hunting process somewhat humorous. Very few if any of the postings have salary information in the listing. Call me silly, but salary is definitely a deciding factor on any job, yet they want to keep you in the dark about what a certain position would pay. I understand why companies do it as they want to get an employee as cheap as possible, but if they published the salary range, wouldn’t that help narrow down the amount of candidates? Let’s say I find a position that’s appealing and fill out the paperwork only to find it is way below my minimum salary requirement. I’ve now wasted my time and theirs when I would have skipped the process had I known the salary range.
I’m beginning to see job hunting much like buying a car. It’s all about the haggle, and I would rather listen to Yoko Ono sing than do the haggle. It gets back to putting a price on everyone’s time. Skip the haggle, communicate openly, and both sides save time. Remember, time is irreplaceable.
