You Remember?

Do you remember when your parents and grandparents would tell you to count your blessings?  Well, have you ever done it?  Breathing is a blessing.  Just ask someone that is on oxygen or a respirator and struggles for every breath.  Stretching when you wake up is a blessing.  Just ask someone that is paralyzed and can’t.  Walking is a blessing.  Just ask someone that can’t.

You see the pattern.  This particular little set of words is all about just being thankful.  And yes, five years after I started, I still keep a gratitude journal.  And yes, I write down things that some consider trivial:

Thank you for another day.
Thank you for clarity.
Thank you for the hot coffee from Starbucks.
Thank you for a healthy breakfast and lunch from My Fit Foods.
Thank you for the billable hours today.
Thank you for the reminders of what is important in life.
Thank you for the 10 miles on the stationary bike at the gym.
Thank you for all the great people and energy in my life.
Thank you for calm and clarity.
Thank you for inspiration.

Those were just the first ten out of a page + in my gratitude journal, and I’m still going.  How bout you?  Care to share what you are thankful for today, right at the very minute you are reading these words?

Thank You For Reading My Words
