I Scratch My Head
It’s soapbox time. “Someone should do something.” That’s one of the most common phrases heard on the news I would think. I see complaining about “someone and something” much like the emotion of anger. Neither takes any effort. It’s easy to sit on the sidelines whining. It takes effort to get involved and work to initiate change. Many years back, I started countering people when they started the “Someone should do something” rant. Well, who is the “someone,” and what is the “something” that should be done? It’s easy for anyone to take potshots from the sidelines. Change requires work. You have to get involved. If you don’t like the way your local government is doing things, get involved by campaigning to vote the current administration out of office.
My personal view is that if you do not have any idea on how to change “something” to make it different/better, then you have no right to complain about it. The reality is that “Someone” is you, and “Something” is getting involved. If you want to help a chronic “someone and something” complainer, call them out and get them involved.
