I have notepads everywhere: in my jacket, in my truck, in the house, on the computer, and on the phone. When something inspires me, I write it down either literally or electronically. I learned long ago to pay attention as inspiration can come at any time. A song comes on that triggers something inside, someone says something, or I see a billboard or bumper sticker. I never know the source, but I do know how to pay attention, listen, and capture the inspiration.
At least weekly, I get the
question about continuing to write something new most every day, and the answer
is always the same. I am able to write
because I listen and pay attention.
There have been numerous occasions where someone says something to me,
and I literally here that’s it in my head.
I’ll either write the word down in my notebook or on the cell phone to
ensure I keep the thought. For me,
inspiration comes from doing two simple things, being engaged in my life and expecting
to be inspired. To me, that’s how life
should be lived. Rather than thinking
today will be the same old same old, I actively engage and ask the good Lord
and the universe, “What do you have for me today…I know it will be something
great.”
We all get inspired many times
each day, but most shrug it off. When
you see something or feel something that stirs you a little, take notes as that
could be your little slice of inspiration today.
