“When you learn to
laugh at yourself, you always have something to laugh at.” – Fortune Cookie
I can attest to the quote above as I laugh at myself
everyday about something I’ve done, said, or thought. Take for instance, today’s humor. I was beyond pissed this morning when my
dryer crapped out on me. I came in from
the gym, loaded it up with some wet clothes, fired it up and it sounded like a
thrashing machine going off. I popped
the front panel, realigned the guides and felt, put it back together and no
difference. At this point, I had to
stand up and walk off or start screaming.
On the way to work, I started shaking my head and laughing
about the situation thinking, “you just let a dryer kick your ass.” After all, the machine is 14 years old. I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten my money’s worth
out of it. My “teenage” dryer was a nice
reminder this morning about perspective.
I could have easily allowed the dryer situation poo poo my entire day by
fixating on the situation. Instead, I
chose to laugh at the way I reacted. Anyway,
a new one will be delivered in the morning.
Laughter is one of the best feelings in the world. Learn to laugh at yourself, and you will
always be entertained.
