One of the discussions on the Ron and Fez show today was
road trips of a lifetime. Most of the
conversation was about how much there is to see in our great country. Plenty of people called in with their trips,
but Vagabond Dan’s story was the one that took the cake. Dan and his dog Gnome are seeing the country in
HoBo, which is short for houseboat. He has
made his way through Arkansas, down the Mississippi, and is currently in the
Gulf of Mexico running the coastline of Florida on his way to Key West. The majority of the call was about meeting
new people on the trip, and how friendly and inviting they have all been. He is documenting the trip with text and
photos on his web site: www.vagabonddan.com.
Road trips of any type are life-changing events. I’ve done plenty of road trips on the Harley. As I’m writing this little story, I’m
thinking about being in front of the house Elvis grew up in right across the
street from the church in Tupelo, MS while on the way to the Smoky Mountains. That’s the thing about road trips. They are more than trips to get from point A
to point B. They are life-changing events
that stay with you always.
So tell me about your favorite road trip.
