In
an interview, Johnny Rotten, of Sex Pistols fame, discussed contracting
meningitis and being in the hospital for a year going in and out of comas. He
did not know his parents, where he was, or what was going on. Portions of his memory starting at age 7 are
just gone. He did recover, but still has
a gap in his life. There was an upside
out of the illness. As he put it, he has
a constant yearning to learn.
There
are times we forget who we really are on the inside. Relationships, jobs, and significant events
in life, put us in the situation that we just lose sight of us. We all have
memories from certain events in our past that would we wish would to
disappear. It is easy to get caught up
in the digging for clues or explanations when sometimes the answers are just
not there. That is when acceptance comes
into play. Rather than continuing the
cycle of futile digging, stop and move in a new direction. Focus your yearning on what you might miss by
living in the moment rather than what you did miss in the past.
Good advice, and thanks for stopping by you reminded me to get back here and visit. I see many parallels when I do.
