Bread Crumbs

We all get lost at some point.  That is when it is nice to have figurative trail of breadcrumbs to mark your journey to determine where you are and how you got there. In the old cartoons, there would always be some critter eating the breadcrumbs as quick as someone was putting them down.  The star of the cartoon would turn around and see all the crumbs gone then utter some profound statement like, “My breadcrumbs are gone…how am I going to get home?”

When I am out in a new or unknown area, I use landmarks as my breadcrumbs.  I take mental pictures of certain buildings, billboards, or maybe big trees.  They all provide a mental path of that particular adventure.  The mental breadcrumbs are also useful to remind me of past trips and to turn in a different direction rather than the same old road. The known path is safe; however, I choose to believe always taking the safe and known path limits our potential to experience new things.  My breadcrumbs remind me if where I have been rather than where I am going.
