“I gonna lose weight, get in
shape, stop drinking, stop smoking, get my head right, find a new boyfriend and
get a new job.”
Yes, I have heard every one
of those tasks strung together in one sentence.
That is a lot to do all at the same time. No wonder so many people flounder and fail
when it comes to making changes in their lives. They want it all to change and
want it to change right now. It’s a matter of working with the ever so
frustrating “P Monster: patience.
We all like that instant
gratification, but that’s now how it works.
Rather than going for the wholesale overhaul and getting frustrated,
pick one or two things to work on first.
Once you get those going on track, select another and continue. Maybe you work on getting your head straight,
which can lead to better overall health.
Maybe you reduce drinking which can help with weight loss. Maybe you cut back on smoking, which can
improve your endurance, and help you get in shape.
We can’t fix or change
everything all at once. It takes effort
and patience. It’s a matter of making
little tweaks here and there that can have long-term positive results. What
have you tweaked lately?
