Accurate Understanding

I read an article about spiritual relationships where the phrase, accurate understanding, was used regarding the author’s connection with God.  As I thought more about the phrase, I found myself pondering about my connections on all levels and wondering if I have an accurate understanding of my place in people’s lives and their place in mine.  Actually, role is a better term to use rather than place.  I believe we serve many roles through our lives.  We are guides, students, teachers, confidants, acquaintances, friends, lovers, counselors, protectors, victims, and on and on.  No matter our role, it still comes down to one simple word in my opinion, purpose.

It is crushing to me to hear someone say, “I’m useless and have nothing to offer anyone, or my life is such a mess that I should just give up.”  We all experience times where we want to give up, but rather than stay in the swirling vortex of suck, ask yourself, what is the takeaway, or learning opportunity from this event.  Accurately understand that you have a purpose in this world although that purpose is not always apparent at the time.
