On A Swivel

I am a bit of a watcher.  It’s not about being paranoid.  Rather it is about paying attention to what’s going on around me.  Part of it is for my safety and the other part is for the opportunity to experience something new.  Yesterday, I was scanning ahead while walking down 9th Ave and saw well known actor Joe Pantolliono.  He was just walking down the street like the rest of us.  There was no entourage around him or any projection of, “do you know who I am?”  He was just out enjoying the day like anyone else.  I just smiled and kept on walking.

As I sat at the entrance to Central Park at Columbus Square, I was watching the bicycle and horse carriage hawkers do their sales pitch to certain people.  It was interesting to me as to how they profiled who they would hit up.  They mainly went after those with maps and those looking around like they were lost.  The ones they did not bother were those walking with purpose and projecting that they knew where they were going, and nope, I was not hit up.

Paying attention to what goes on around you is a great thing.  Keep your head on a swivel and enjoy the experiences life brings your way.
