Detour

Detour is a word that brings about all sorts of frustration and pissy-ness.  We know when we see that sign that it means we are being taken away from our planned path and being forced to go out of our way.  For me, I may throw my hands up and follow it with a few creative words.  That’s the normal reaction when I am trying to get somewhere by a certain time.  Then there are other times where I see a detour as a way to experience a new path to get somewhere.  Detours just change the way to a destination rather than the actual destination itself.  A deviation from a direct course of action is one definition of a detour.  Detours are a part of life.  There are always things that will take you off your predetermined path.  I went to college straight out of high school, and my sister waited for 10 years.  We both ended up at the same place but took a different route.

Rather than seeing detours as a pain in the butt, shift your vision to see it as a chance to experience a different way of getting somewhere.
