You Think You Know Me

I am not secretive but I am selective. There is nothing deep in that statement, but I choose who knows me at different levels.  There are people that know me on a business level, people that know me on a personal level, and people that know me on an intimate level.  By intimate, I am not saying sexual.  Rather, I am saying those people that are deeply and closely connected to me.  There is a difference.

In my opinion, people have to earn the right to know us at the intimate levels.  It requires that we expose ourselves at deep levels, and it takes a significant amount of trust.  It gets back to that saying: “I have lots of acquaintance but very few friends.”  People have to earn the right to know us.  If you “think” you know me, you probably don’t.  Stick around, be genuine, and maybe someday you will know the real me.
