Get a Grip

One of the most important accessories to a skate boarder is grip tape. It’s the rough surface on top of the board.  You also see it in parking garages and such where there are level transitions where someone could slip and fall in wet conditions. No matter the application, grip tape has the same purpose, to help you maintain contact with the respective surface.

I look at intuition and boundaries as types of internal grip tape.  When I listen to my intuition and maintain my boundaries, I stay in contact with the balance in my life.  When I don’t, I bust my ass on some emotional or mental level. The associated soreness is a reminder that I need to get a grip.

Slipping and falling are parts of life.  The most important thing is how we recover.  If you’re regularly losing contact, that’s a sure sign you need to get a grip.
