Seflies & Ussies

It used to be that sunrises and sunsets were some of the most popular pictures taken.  Nowadays, I think both have lost out to the “Selfies and Ussies.” For that one person that has lived in the forest with no cell phone or internet, a “Selfie” is a self-portrait and an “Ussie” is a group self-portrait.  Both types of photos are taken with a smartphone and normally associated with some type of social networking. I am a big believer in taking photos.  Pictures capture a moment in time in life that can never be reproduced.  Even if you retake the photo, it will be a little different.

Over the last few years, I’ve taken more photos than any other time in my life. Most of mine photos are “Ussies” and others are pictures of events. I know why I do now.  I want to ensure I capture the moment and the memory of the people and events I experience. It all comes back to the most precious thing in the universe, time.  We all have a finite amount of time.  Once it is gone, it is gone.

Take that selfie.  Take that ussie.  Don’t worry about your hair or looking silly.  Just capture the moment.  You’ll be glad you did.
