The Reboot

Ron Bennington, of the Ron and Fez Show on Sirius, used a term called the “Midlife-Reboot” on the radio today.  He was referencing what is typically called the mid-life crisis or middle age crazies.  It’s that time when guys think they need a new Corvette or hair plugs, or the girl needs a 20 something guy to hang on their arm.  We all do it, but I cannot tell you why.

Thinking about it, I’ve had numerous reboots for most every decade of my life.  My last one was at the age of 46 on August 28, 2006.  I’m not reliving my past, but I do recall significant dates where a life changing event occurred.  On the 28th, Shelley left, I went off in the ditch, met my therapist Jamie, and I started putting my life back together. It took me a few years, but I did it.

At 54, and soon to be 55, in June, I am sensing another major reboot is on the way.  In the past, I was blindsided by them, but now, I expect it.  I do not know what it is, but if it follows my past reboots, it will be a doozy.  The difference now is that I expect life-changing events.  Luckily, I see them as reboots rather than a hard drive crash.

When was your last reboot?
