At this very moment, I have my 90’s mix playing quite loud in the background with Take Me Home by Phil Collins and writing away. I can write with it on sometimes and other times hit the mute button in my head. From traffic, television, or people buzzing in your ear, life presents us with lots of static.
I can feel it when I am over-amped on the noise and need to hit the internal mute button. I get very quiet and withdrawn. Those are my triggers to do something about what is going on in my head. That something can be total quiet in the house, or hopping on the Harley for a few hours of therapy. Over the years, I’ve learned to work with it when it comes, or it will work on me later in a less than favorable way.
We all need quiet time, Me Time, to process life. If you feel like you are full of static and cannot seem to get a clear thought no matter how hard you try, hit the mute button. It doesn’t matter how, where, or the activity, but take that Me Time. Hit that mute button today and smile!
