To revive with or as if with rest, food, or drink; give new vigor or spirit to is one definition of refresh. I like the last part of the definition, give new vigor or spirit to. Experience has taught me, internalizing things in just makes it worse or leads to other challenges. Now, I recognize my triggers signaling a need to refresh. I get quiet, withdrawn, get tension in my neck, and get a little anti-social. I have several refresh tools I use, wind therapy on the Harley, working out at the gym, writing, and quick trips down to Isla for some sand, sun, and zero agenda items.
We are like vehicles, folks. With proper and timely maintenance, we run fine, last a long time. Skip the maintenance, and you end up in the shop so to speak. If you find yourself withdrawing or feeling stressed, those are sure fire signs it is time to refresh. The activity you choose really doesn’t matter. It is all about the action of doing the refresh.
