When Is It Ok?
“Our Thoughts Create Our Lives And Our Words Indicate What We Are Thinking” - Will Bowen
I’m about 2/3s through the companion book for the A Complaint Free World Challenge. In a nutshell, the book parallels the Law of Attraction, You Are What You Think, and Power of Positive Thinking of which we are all familiar. However, I am running across some nice little tidbits here and there.
For the new members to the group, the Challenge is to go 21 consecutive days without complaining, criticizing, or gossiping: http://www.acomplaintfreeworld.org/. I do still have some of the purple bracelets if someone wants to try the challenge. And yes I did make it 21 days.
So I’ve been asked by a few people just exactly what is a complaint. Per the dictionary, complain is a verb that means to express grief, pain, or discontent or to make a formal accusation or charge. Will Bowen puts it another way that speaks to me a little better.
“The words in a complaint or noncompliant can be identical; what distinguishes the two is your meaning.”
Now think about those last two words: your meaning. For me, that translates to what energy you choose to give your words. So here we are back to the Law of Attraction again. If you are giving off negative energy by complaining, that’s exactly what you will get back. So in a nutshell, if you think you are complaining, you probably are. Now if you are noticing it, you can change it.
Another interesting thing out of the book is the topic of gossip. Traditionally, it gets lumped in with complaining, but did you know there are instances when gossip is ok? There are actually a couple of them. 5,4,3,2,1…ya give up? Ok, here ya go.
It is ok to gossip when you are complimenting the person that is not in the room. We know this one as what, class? PRAISE!
The second instance is where you would or will say whatever you said in item one verbatim to the person when you see them. We know that as what, class? HONESTY!
In summary, when you change your thinking, you indeed change your life and the lives of those around you. We as Certified Positive Thinkers are already working on this change just by the nature of being a part of the TOD Group. As of today, there are 90 of us like minded thinkers that “choose” to work on changing the world one positive word and one positive thought at a time. We have the power.
Action Item – Go out and do some “Gossiping for Good.” Heap some praise and honesty on someone today and watch how you change their life.
POSITIVE ENERGY
I guess I was right in following my feelings on Sunday. I had three takers on the CDs I picked up at Lakewood. I still have some more and will even give my personal ones to anyone that needs some good words and inspiration. I know most of them by heart now. Send me a note, and I’ll fix you up.
