People Laugh

Some people do indeed laugh at me when I tell them I can feel their energy. No I don’t think I’m Kreskin or the mind reader at the carnival, but I do feel things. Laugh no more naysayers, as I found out “feeling it” does indeed have a name: emotional contagion.

Emotional contagion describes the process of us sensing and feeling the emotions of those around us. Have you ever noticed that you tend to mimic the actions of the person you are talking too? They smile and you smile. They’re sad and you’re sad. They yawn and you yawn. You are feeling them. As one article put it, you can actually catch someone’s emotions. It happens with what they call a neural bridge. There is a special type of neuron in our brain called mirror neurons that allow this bridge to occur. Our brains actually connect with the other person. Research also suggests the more involved with someone you are, the stronger the bridge. It just continues to grow with time. So when you hear someone say, I know what you are feeling, they really may.

From my personal experience and growth, I can tell you I am far more in tune with people than I ever have been. When they are up, I feel them. When they are down, I feel them. When they are distant, I feel them. By feeling I do not necessarily mean physical touch although the feelings are significantly stronger when there is touch. And yes there are times I leave places as I feel a less than positive energy, and I choose not to be around it.

I’m just connected. If you have spent any time with me, you’ve experienced it. It’s not uncommon for me to send or receive simple emails or maybe a phone call with a question: ‘all good or spider senses are on alert?” That’s just my way of saying I feel you. And yes people do still laugh until they experience it for themselves. Ask Nora, or Sally, or Teri, or David, or my sister, or Richard, etc.
