Saturday Thoughts

The Man in The Mirror

“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.” – Carl Jung

Today’s thought was inspired by a Christmas gift Teri gave me last year. It’s a custom wooden framed mirror for the house. The colors are such that it really pops against the paint color on the fireplace. It adds another level of good energy to the house.

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do just see your hair all mushed up from pillow in the morning, or the sweat dripping down from your workout? Do you see wrinkles or what you perceive as flaws? Every single one of us is unique. There is not another one identical to you. Even identical twins are not 100% alike. There are subtle differences here and there. That’s what makes us all so fantastic. Do you ever take a minute to just stand and look in awe of how amazing a creation and person you really are? Can you look past the “meat suit” reflection and see who you really are? Can you see your spirit and energy? Sometimes I can. There are also times where I see my insecurities and questions about myself.

I contend we all have the ability to see who we really are along with those we encounter daily. Remember, that 99% of who we are is invisible, but that does not mean you cannot see who you are. It just means you can’t see in the visual plane like we are conditioned to think. I believe there are so many types of vision other than what you see with your eyes. Why else would you be able to see someone’s energy, have premonitions, or feel the person coming up behind you. From time-to-time, I get and send texts/emails just checking on people as I feel them or they feel me. For me, it’s a feeling in my heart not so different from the butterflies feeling we all experience. In fact, Jamie sent me a note this past week that just said: “Hey Cowboy, how’s things. I sent a similar note to Sally as I just felt it. I like to think of it as 360 degree sensory vision, or the ability to see all around you with all your senses and energy. I’ve found that the more open you allow yourself to be, the more you experience and sense. It’s kinda like those phone calls you get when someone says I was just thinking about you. I really like the way I saw it written one time: “A coincidence is a small miracle where God prefers to be anonymous”.

I see great and wonderful things in all of you. And the funny part of that is that there are people on the distribution that I have never met in person, but I still see them through their words and energy. It’s like I wrote about earlier in the week where I met Ruben and Linda for dinner. Even though we had never physically met, we already knew each other.

Action Item – The next time you look in the mirror, take 60 seconds to look at the reflection. Take mental notes on what you see. Look past those scars, wrinkles, gray hair, and see the real you, and then smile and be amazed at the wonderful human being you really are…remember, you are a unique piece in the jigsaw puzzle of the universe. I’m so happy to be “connected” to all of you.
