ACTs
“Three things in human life are important. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. The third is to be kind.” – Henry James
I was discussing blogs last week and was asked about a blog for random acts of kindness (RAK). Well the other person was indirectly asking me to set one up. I responded: “maybe this one is your calling since the idea came to you.” I thought more on the idea over the next few days and the question that kept coming to mind was: “is it truly a RAK if you are looking for it?” My initial answer was no, but as I thought more about I started to smile. Why? RAKs are indeed spontaneous events but living with a mindset of acts of kindness (ACTs) is where we should really be all the time anyway.
We should always be on the lookout for some way to help someone. In my mind, I equate ACTs to the gift of blessings. We are giving ACTs out of the kindness of our heart without expectation for something in return. Why do we give someone flowers, words of encouragement, a gift, a hug, a smile, or a kiss? Giving the gift of an ACT makes our heart feel good. That’s the way true kindness is supposed to work. So as you go about your day today, be looking with your ACTs vision. You will indeed change someone’s day with a simple Act of Kindness.
