Just A
I’m just a janitor. I’m just an engineer. I’m just a biker. Damn It! You are not just anything! You are here for a reason. You are not a mistake. You are not a failure. You are not worthless. We all have a place and purpose on this earth but sometimes talk ourselves down into thinking we are just a insert subject. We sometimes get beat up so much by our past experiences, from hurtful words and relationships and just overall negative input in our lives.
When I talk with people and hear them run down themselves saying I’m just worthless, I’m just warped, I have so many flaws, I bring nothing to the table, I physically and emotionally feel their hurt when they speak the words. I can’t take ownership of their hurt, but I can sure help by speaking faith and positivity back at them. As I wrote last week, your words are a reflection of what’s on the inside. What I normally do when I hear someone doing the “just a” exercise, I counter it with a positive. Adding positive and uplifting inflection to your words also makes a difference. Whether they acknowledge it or not, it is indeed registering and being stored in their brain and heart. In my big ole head, I choose to think every positive thought and word I give out, is replacing a negative or low energy word or thought in someone’s head and heart. As with anything, it takes repetition and practice change things. As the science has shown, you can change a habit in as little as 30 days.
I submit you will have a “just a” encounter sometime today. When you do, you can make a difference by speaking faith and positivity into the other person. Change the “just a” into an “I am or I do.” I am a great mother. I am a great engineer. I am a great friend. I do make a difference in the world. I do know I’m loved. Look for opportunities to be a blessing to any and everyone you meet.
