In Exchange For
I write often about the value of our time as it is the one thing that cannot be replaced.
I read a post on Facebook this morning that really spoke to me. It gave me a whole new perspective on time.
“On this day God wants you to know that today is a whole day for you to do good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a whole day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; and in its place will be something that you had left behind... let it be something good…”
I aspire to do good things and make a difference in lives each day, but when I think about it as exchanging a day of my life, it adds another level of importance to time for me. I did look back on my day yesterday and am indeed happy the way it turned out. I helped some people with rodeo tickets. I met some new people at the BBQ Cook-off setup. I exchanged some funny moments via texts and phone calls with Teri, Lauren, Richard, Robin, Bob, Jennifer, Judi, Sally, Sarah, Laura, Kathy, Mike, Tom, Savannah, the cooking team, Chris on the Transportation Committee, Ed, and Sharon. I had a nice steak and good conversation at the Velvet. I had a nice day at work. The weather was great and got to enjoy some sunshine. In fact, I do not recall a single down minute yesterday. It was all good for me.
Take a minute to think about your time in the context of the quote above. Are you happy with the exchange you made yesterday? It’s your life and time you are exchanging each day. Make sure it’s a good one.
Thanks to all those whole helped me make yesterday a great exchange. Thanks for being a part of a day in the life of Rodney Wayne Williams.
