What Are Ya?

Category

I read an article about determining if you are a pessimist, optimist, or realist. I’m not a big fan of labels, but this article got my attention. The pessimist is always looking at the gloom and doom “sky is falling” side of things. The optimist is looking at the “all is well all the time” side of things. My definition of a realist is someone that is adaptable and just understands that life happens. They do not focus solely on the positive or negative but focus on the now.

Many people label me as hopeless optimist as I choose to think and believe in a positive way. I do indeed spin things to the positive by choice; however, I know better than to wear the optimist/pessimist blinders and focus solely one or the other. I know there will be days and times I am down or my life runs off the tracks, but I also know there will be days where I am cruising down the highway of life without a care in the world. I choose to believe things are positive and good, but I also accept the way things are each day.

So what am I: pessimist, optimist or realist? I like to think of myself as a Realist with Optimistic Tendencies. Who’s with me?
