There They Are

All Around Us

No matter which way you look, they are there. Every single person has at least one around them. So who are they or the one? It is someone that needs us. I like the way Albert Schweitzer says it: “Wherever a man turns he can find someone who needs him.” One of my prayers each morning is “who can I help today, Lord?” I profess it as I know there are people out there that need me and I need them. We’re pack animals. We are not made to be alone. Short of hugs and smiles, I find one of the best things I get to do, is listen. We all want to be heard. We all want to be validated. We all want to know that we matter and are important in this big game called life.

Each of us has opportunities each day to make a contribution to someone’s life each day. You know what I mean. You see someone, and you get “the feeling” inside. Most people brush it off or just do not know what to do with it. When that urge to say hi to a stranger hits you, do it. When you get “the feeling” to call someone, do it. Ask the waiter at lunch what their name is before you order. I am certain you will catch them off guard, and I’m certain you will get a smile as you were probably the first one that asked.

I joke a lot about who “they” are. In all honesty, I am they, you are they, we are they. They are all around us. Seize the opportunity today and make that change in someone’s life. You’ll know it when it hits ya.
