“This Ain’t Nothin”
Today’s title is the name of Craig Morgan’s latest song. The song starts out talking about an older man being interviewed after a tornado devastated his home and town. The title was his response to the reporter. He goes on to talk about losing his father in a mining accident when he was a kid, then about losing his brother in Vietnam, and his wife dying in his arms later in life. The song continues on and talks about how everything that was damaged could be replaced with time and money, but the people in his life could not. To me, the song can be summarized with one very power word: perspective.
Perspective is a great thing, and I write about it often. It takes on many descriptions and shapes but is still perspective. The most important things in my life are the people and the experiences. They are all unique and none can be replaced. Whether it is watching Lauren smile and get excited as she bought her first new car yesterday or experiencing a moment of silence for our fallen military heroes last night at the Armed Forces Military Ball, they are important moments in my life. That’s why I write about the people and events in my life as they are the most important things to me. Nora summed it up pretty well last night at the Ball: “Thanks for inviting us to the Cool Stuff, Rodney.”
So what does your perspective look like at this very minute?
