My Arms Hurt
It looks like I’ve reached the limits of the length of my arms. I finally gave in a started carrying my fold-able cheaters. For those a little younger in the group, cheaters are reading glasses. When you can no longer stretch your arms out to read the text, it’s time for cheaters. Most would say that means my vision is getting bad or worse. Since both of those words are low energy negative words, I choose to use a different description. My vision is changing.
The medical term for the change in physical vision is Presbyopia. As we age, our eyes’ ability to focus in on close objects changes. It just comes with the territory. Just like the rest of me, my eyes are just going through the changes that come along with more life experiences. If you are new to the group, I prefer to use the term life experiences rather than use the word age.
Other changes that come along are wrinkles and grey hair. Now I could choose to pine away about the change in my vision, the wrinkles, or the grey hair, but I choose to look at it in another way. Presbyopia, wrinkles and grey hair are just part of the process of changing. Now let me drop some real knowledge on ya.
Does Presbyopia, grey hair, or wrinkles really define me: Rodney Wayne Williams? Absolutely not! Those things are just part of what occurs to the “meat suit” I wear. Remember, 99% of who we are can’t be seen. Sure, I could have eye surgery, and may some day when they get better with the technology, could get Botox for the wrinkles, and could color my hair, but I don’t. I’m happy in my skin. Scars and I have many, flaws and all, I’m happy with it. It all goes into me but does not define me.
In the movie Avatar, they use the phrase “I see you.” As the show progresses, you come to learn the phrase means learning how to look past the physical and see the real you. The real you is your energy and spirit. As I have expanded and broadened my heart and thinking, I have developed the ability to see the real you. Those close to me know that and experience it often. I feel them and they feel me. I was three for three on situations with those close to me last week.
Just like my physical vision changes, so does my spiritual vision. As I grow, change, and have more life experiences, my spiritual vision changes and becomes clearer and more focused. I don’t need cheaters to see the real you. All I need is a clear heart and open mind. The nice thing about clear spiritual vision is that my arms don’t hurt.
