There are many books in all of us. How can there not be? We all have one-of-a-kind lives. I get asked quite often: how do you decide what to write each day? The real is answer is there is not much decision making in the process. It’s more about being aware, being in tune with life and listening. I am exposed to a multitude of people and events each day. The way it works for me is I will see, feel, or hear something and an internal bell will ring in my head. That lets me know that’s a possibility as a subject. Sometimes the bell is so loud that I know without a doubt what the subject will be for the next thought. There are also many days the bells sounds like a fire alarm going off in my head. I get hit with so much inspiration that it can be a little overwhelming. Rather than get frustrated or try to fight it, I’ve learned to mentally note them all. They will fall into place, drop off the list, or live to be a thought another day.
Be aware. Tune in to your life. Listen totally by using your ears, heart, head, and spirit. Approach people and situations with the question of what I can learn from this event or person? Find your inspiration. Maybe a mental checklist like mine will work for you. Maybe you need to write it down somewhere. It’s not a matter of how you capture the inspiration but that you capture the inspiration. When you are open to the possibilities out there, it’s easier than you think.
