The "P" Word

That’s a Nice Way to Look at It

I had some minor surgery yesterday morning. The nurse asked me how I was doing, and I told her fine but would rather be somewhere else. I then said: “at least I am getting fixed.” That’s when she responded with the title. After all, there are people in the world that just have to live with health issues as there are no resources in the area to help them. It gets back to being thankful for what you have rather than what you think you are missing. It’s all about the “P” word again: perspective. Even with needles being stuck in my arm, a gown with no back, and going under, I can still find the positive. Fortunately, I have insurance, have access to some of the top medical experts in the world, have friends that can take me and to and pick me up from the hospital, and have the financial resources to get fixed.

As I sat in the prep area yesterday, I closed my eyes, smiled, received the positive energy being sent my way by my friends and family, and recited my gratitude statements along with my yoga breathing exercises. Being thankful and relaxed changes any situation. It only takes a few minutes to change your perspective, and the more you do it, the less time it takes. Then there comes the time where you are living it all the time rather than trying to get yourself to the state of gratitude. Being thankful becomes the norm rather than the exception, and it all happens by just changing your perspective.

That’s a nice way to look at it. Print that sentence, and put it somewhere close to you. When you feel the less than positive energy, look at it, recite it, and live it. Perspective. - the good “P” word.
