Comes Around
I recall Nora and I talking a few years ago about how neat it would be when I ran into a total stranger that had read something I wrote. Well, I can say it was indeed a very neat experience as it happened yesterday at of all places an impromptu pool party.
I met one of Dawn and Eydie’s neighbors, Lynsey, yesterday. As we’re all chatting it up, Lynsey, asked a question about the titanium cross I wear around my neck. I tell her the story about how I arrived at having the cross and the meaning behind it. From there, the discussion led into how I started writing as a form of therapy and then mentioned about getting my first official copyright. She asked the name of the piece, and I told her: Just a Reminder. She grinned a little and said, “I think I’ve read that…It was forwarded to me in an email.” I got out of the pool, snagged my Blackberry and showed her the piece. She read it and smiled and said this is it. I have read it before. That put a big smile on my face, and yes it was indeed a neat experience.
It is still funny and humbling to me to see what a few quotes has morphed into some 1 ½ years later. When I started this piece of my journey on October 30, 2008, I had no clue where it would go. I was just writing for me and sharing with those close to me that I thought would like some good words to start their day each day. Now I am experiencing the “comes around” and think “hmmmm…maybe you’re on to something here Rod…” Patrick told me the other day that I’ve got enough material for about four books. Who knows, maybe that first book is closer than I think.
We all know the saying: “What Goes Around, Comes Around.” Strive to put positive energy and thinking out there in the universe and see how quick it “Comes Around.” You too have a Lynsey out there waiting to meet you.
