A Great Day in the Hood

Day One

October 30th marked two years since I started this little Thought of the Day thing. Today, 10/31/10, marks day one of year three. When I started writing, I had no agenda or clue where it would lead. I just knew it was something I wanted to do, and the original 12 people on the distribution wanted to share some good words and energy.

I have learned a great many things by writing over the last couple of years. I have learned to be a better communicator and listener. I have learned there is potential for inspiration in every event and encounter in life. I have learned a greater degree of patience and tolerance rather than assuming and judging. I have learned your past can wreck your present if you allow it, but I think the most important lesson I have learned is that all we really have and know is the day we are living now. The past is done, the future does not exist yet, and so we are left with the right now, also known as living in the moment.

Dwelling on the past just keeps you reliving the past. Dwelling on the future just keeps you hung up in the what if game. So where does that leave you, in the right now or present moment. Each day is day one. Learn it, love it, and live it.
