CECs
Most every industry has required CECs to maintain certain accreditations. Oh, I guess I should define CEC: Continuing Education Credit. In my industry, technology changes so quickly that keeping on top of it is a requirement not an option. Wouldn’t it be nice if continuing education courses were required for relationships? Unfortunately, most of us do not attempt to learn and grow in relationships until there is a major issue. We get lazy and complacent which leads to a disconnect in the relationship. Think about all the times you have heard someone going through a divorce say, “We just grew apart.” Take a little time to look at your relationship. Talk with, not to, your significant other and do a quick pulse check. Is everything good on all fronts? Is there some area of your relationship where a little continuing education would help?
Dr. Henry Cloud summarizes it nicely: “We can only have relationships that are equal to our ability…If you expect to have a good relationship; you need to bring the right skills to the table first…”
