Break Out The Shock Collar

Chasing My Tail

Who doesn’t laugh watching a dog or cat chasing their tail?  They do the circles for a bit then look up at you like “WHAT!”  The chasing my tail analogy is one of the more common ones out there.  We all feel like we are spinning in circles on occasion.  The funny thing is we try so hard by telling ourselves not to do circles that we continue.  As the Law of Attraction dictates – “I attract to my life what I give my attention to.”  We convince ourselves that by concentrating hard on making certain feelings or emotions go away that they will when in actuality we are staying in them.  There are times I revert to being what I am at my core: The Fixer.  I sometimes concentrate too much on trying to “fix” a situation rather than accepting the situation for what it is just a situation in my life.  I recite one of my many mantras: “It’s okay to help, but I can’t take ownership.”  The difference now is I know what and when I am doing it rather than getting caught up in situation.  It is not a matter of giving up or losing.  It is about choosing where to focus and give my energy.

If you feel you are caught up chasing your tail, take a break for a second, take a deep breath, refocus, and remember it is just a moment in your life.  Even chasing your tail has place and purpose in your life.  Look for the lesson in your tail rather than focusing on the chase.
