Oh Pick Me...I Wanna Learn

They Are Important

An author contacted, via my blog site, asking if I would consider reviewing their latest book.  I said sure and a few days later, I received a copy of Walking Through Illusion.  To this day, I still do not know how she got my name or decided to ask me to review the book.  It took me a few months to read the book as I had tons of other things going on in my life, but I kept the book in my bag and pulled it out daily to remind me.  I finally wrote the review yesterday and sent it to Betsy.  She was quite pleased and thankful for the words.

After I wrote the review and sent it off, I began thinking about how important our thoughts and opinions are in the world.  I recall the old E.F. Hutton commercials: “When E.F. Hutton talks, people listen.”  That catch phrase was one of the most popular ones out in the 70’s and 80’s.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we all adopted that philosophy in our personal lives?  Actually, I did adopt that very philosophy some years ago.  You have heard me mention it as one of my daily action items, “Learn at least one new thing.” I never know the source of what I will learn, but I do go out with the intention of learning at least one new thing.  My preferred method of learning is through dialog with people.  I expect to learn something from everyone I encounter, and the best way to learn, is to listen.  Heck, I can even learn something from the talking heads on the television or the liars in Congress.

Your thoughts and opinions are valuable as they are yours.  Never let anyone convince you otherwise.  When you least expect it, someone can drop some life changing knowledge on you with their thoughts and opinions.
