Walking Through Illusion - A Book Review

“…Hearts are free to express from the depth to which they go…”

The partial quote above is what jumped out at me on page one of Betsy’s book, Walking Through Illusion.  She goes on to say the quote means, “…each of us is free to love in the face of reasons not to.”  As I progressed through her book, I found myself marking some little snippet every couple of pages.  Before I knew it, my highlighter was dry, and I was out of page markers.

Walking Through Illusion is about Betsy’s discussions with Jesus.  They discuss topics ranging from beliefs to fairness and my favorite subject, time.  It is a book about dialog, openness, and lessons learned.  Betsy draws from her own experiences in life and shares how various conversations affected her.  Each chapter ends with a set of questions and action items, some questions to ponder, and her insight on how the chapter spoke to her.

Walking Through Illusion is one of those books you read a little at a time.  Even though the book spoke differently to me each time I read a chapter, I did find two consistent messages: the importance of heart based living and to think beyond the right/wrong or the black and white.  Sure, there are finite answers to certain questions, but I find there is more to learn when thinking about the gray in life.  No matter where you are on your walk in life, Walking Through Illusion will take you down a different path.

You can find out more about Betsy at her web site, www.betsythompson.com.  Her books are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Borders.
