The Tender
There is nothing like the feeling of getting all ready to roll on the motorcycle only to walk out, turn the key on, hit the start button, and hear click, click, click. Yep, the battery is dead. You have not ridden the bike in a while or even started it so the battery drained down. One of the best investments you can make for a motorcycle is a battery tender. The job of the battery tender is to keep the battery fully charged during the times you do not ride the bike. It monitors the battery, and if it senses the battery is running down, it turns on to charge it back to its normal level. Mine is tending in right now. I’d rather plug it in every couple of days than spend the $100+ on a new battery each year.
We need tenders in our life too. We need people in our lives that are connected to us at the deepest level and can sense and feel when we are losing our charge. I have a number of tenders in my life, and I am a tender to many others too. It is not uncommon for an email or phone call to come from or to Nora, “I need a boob hug…I need some world domination time…” Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and a call comes in from Johnny, “I was just thinkin aboutcha and wanted to say hi.” Whether it is a boob hug or call from Johnny, I get recharged. That’s what keeps me going.
I see too many people out there thinking they can do this thing called life all on their own. We’re not designed that way. Attempting to be an island of one all the time leads to an Epic Fail every single time. We need people, we need connections, and we need tenders.
If you feel run down and lethargic more than you feel great, you need a tender. If you feel sad more than you smile, you need a tender. If you feel like you are so low you can’t come up, you need a tender. Sometimes all it takes is a phone call or a hug. Learn to recognize the signs of your battery running low and plug in to a tender. If you don’t have a go to tender, call me and I will get you charged up.
