What’s Different
This morning was quite comical at the coffee shop. I was looking out over the store from my chair in the corner and an idea popped into my head. “Ethan, it’s time for a change...lets rearrange the furniture.” Before you know it, my corner chair was at the other end of the store, the creamer bar was by the front door, and the impulse item display was by the front door where it should have been all the time. Patrick got involved, Doug got involved, Bob got involved, and before you know it, the other customers were involved. There were 10 or so people involved in making change happen on the fly. There was some consumer science in the equation too. I suggested moving the selection of mugs and tumblers closer to the door. When are you more likely to buy a tumbler, before or after you have your drink? The new locations of the tables allowed for two paths of foot traffic. Getting people in and out easily is goodness for sales.
I speak and write often about change being good as it keeps us growing. This morning at the coffee shop was a nice example of how easy change can be. Go out and change something today.
