Convenience or Annoyance?
One of my long time pet peeves is valet parking. In fact, I typically will not go to places that attempt to force me to use the valet. Why would I want to pay someone to drive my vehicle and park it in a spot right in front of the eatery when I could do that myself. I consider it an annoyance rather than a convenience. Yes, I am a little jaded from a very bad experience with the valet snakes years ago. They side swiped a number of concrete poles bringing my truck out of a garage in Austin then attempted to act like they knew nothing about it. They ultimately paid to get my vehicle fixed, but it was still a pain and far from any convenience.
Parking is a big deal to me as I take very good care of my vehicles and do not need someone else dinging them up or rifling through my console looking for change. At one time, I would get all spun about going to a place only to find forced valet. I was allowing a situation to dictate my mood by giving away my energy. Now, I just drive right on by. I choose to take my business, money, and energy somewhere else.
We all encounter situations where we have to ask the question. Is this a convenience or an annoyance? If it feels like an annoyance, then it is an annoyance. Rather than stay in the uncomfortable state of being annoyed, just drive right on by. You will be glad you did.
