The Specialist

The rodeo association has over 100 committees all with a specific purpose, but there is one highly specialized group that pops up where you least expect them.  They are not an official committee. They are employees of the show sponsors. They are easy to spot as they wear neon orange shirts with the following written on the back, Random Acts of Kindness.  The RAK Group opens doors, takes pictures for people, helps with traversing the grounds, and rewards people when they see someone doing the same, they give them a gift.  One of the bigger things they do in the stadium is select a group in the upper bowl seats and move them down to some field level seats then show them on the big screens.

Each time I see the group, it brings a little smile to my face, as it reminds me of #1 of my three daily action items.

  1. Make a Difference in Someone’s Life.  It can be something as simple as a smile, a hug, a kind word, a handshake, or a hand out.
  2. Learn at Least One New Thing.  Life presents so many opportunities to learn.  Just keep your eyes open and listen.
  3. Meet at Least One New Person.  Say hello to a stranger.  You never know what you will learn from a chance encounter.

We are all Specialists when it comes to Random Acts of Kindness.  There is no super secret training required.  Just listen to your heart and go with what you feel.  Making a difference in someone’s life will make a difference in yours.
